Literally the Best DMV I've ever been to maybe because it's in the state office but all the employees know what they're doing. They get you in and out fast and dont make you redo the que for small things. Make and appointment get your stuff done quick!

This place is a joke. We have made two appointments now to get my 18 year old son a state ID. Guess what, he still doesnt have an ID. We cant even get past the front desk even with appointments. The first time we were told that none of the documents and mail that we had with his address on it were accepted. The lady told me to get his school transcripts mail to us at our current address and that would be enough. So we did that. A week later we went to our second appointment with the mail that we were told was acceptable and was told that it wasn't acceptable. My son has severe social anxiety and is trying his hardest to better his life by getting his GED. But he cant do that without an ID. I have also taken time off work both times for these appointments. The DMV in Champaign has done nothing but waste our time, cost me money and most importantly has discourage my son.

Never a good experience at this location. No one has any knowledge regarding CDL. I came in a month ago to get my CDL permit renewed before it expired. I asked them to delete the current one out of the system and issue me a new one if I paid the fees and retake the written test. I even called the Springfield main office and spoke with someone about this situation and they told me this is possible to do. I get here and they tell me it was impossible and that I need to come back the day my permit expires. They refuse to help me any further that day. Fast forward and I go back in this morning on the expiration date and they try telling me I have to now wait until Monday to get a new permit because it apparently doesn’t expire until midnight tonight??? Didn’t know that was a thing, but I tell them I need it to drive for my job on Monday. The staff then told me today that they could delete it out of the system and issue me a new one now. Just when I thought everything was good, they tell me that they can’t issue me a new one without renewing my current drivers license because it would expire next year before the permit would and that I have to wait two weeks before I could get my permit

I had an absolute amazing experience! I had an appointment at 9:20 and I was out of the building before then! The young lady who’s name starts with a J who was working counter 15 on 04/30/2026, I had a paper with her name but I lost it! She was amazing, if she’s up for any awards, promotions she needs to get them! She deserves everything and more, this by far was the best dmv experience. She helped me figure out so much that has had me worried about registering an out of state vehicle to Illinois. I hope her pillow is cold on both sides always and her wallet always stays full.

I was there to renew my driver’s license and it was very efficient. It did take take long to get it done and all staffs were nice and kind. I had to call the DMV before the visit to ask about the documents needed to renew my license and Cooper helped me a lot over the phone and on-site as well. She helped me to be prepared and made the whole process smooth. She was the nicest and the most passionate person that I talked to at DMV for my whole life. Thank you so much for your help and service :)
